James Beck
James is the Managing Director of Effective Governance Pty Ltd, where he has extensive experience in Governance and helping Boards and Executive Management be more effective with their Governance and Strategy.  He also has experience in strategically implementing solutions to address business requirements of both Government and Private clients.

James has previously been an executive in the commercial sector of the consulting business for IBM; a managing Partner of the Human Capital Management practice of PwC Consulting; and a  senior manager at Accenture.

Stephen Howell
In his role as Senior Advisor at Effective Governance, Stephen uses his twenty-five years of experience as a governance professional with expertise in regulation, compliance, risk management, strategic planning and corporate governance, assisting clients with enhancing all areas of governance.

His areas of expertise also include providing leadership, management, strategy and governance solutions to complex and significant private sector, government and not-for-profit organisations around Australia.

As a highly experienced and qualified forensic accountant, company director and company secretary, Stephen’s focus is on contributing to the professional development and governance of corporate Australia. Previously Stephen has held significant senior executive, regulatory, compliance and advisory roles around Australia and is a regular speaker on corporate governance, financial management and strategy topics at seminars and conferences in Australia.
