Educational Events

We understand you are busy, so our quarterly educational events are held over a half day to allow you time to get back into the office in the afternoon. Our sessions also include a networking lunch, providing you with the opportunity to catch up with your peers over a gourmet hot buffet lunch.

This event will explore the evolving role of CFOs in today's economic climate, the state of the Hunter's labour market and risk management considerations for owners of SMEs. The event is also a chance for Finance Professionals to accrue CPE points.

Three prominent Hunter and Central Coast Chief Financial Officers will lead a panel discussion tackling the big issues facing CFOs including, competencies required of today's CFO, emerging trends in the future role and the businesses they represent in today's economic climate.
The three CFOs making up our panel are:
  • Ian Rennie - Ampcontrol
  • Lisa Evans - Mingara Recreation Club
  • Paul Douglas - Compass Housing

Session Two - Trends in the CFO labour market
Presented by Sally Bartley from peoplefusion, this session will provide a snapshot of the current labour market for finance professionals and likely trends.
Sally will cover:
  • Current labour market trends within the Hunter region for finance professionals in commerce
  • Attracting the right people to your finance team

Session Three - Hot topic: Managing financial risk for SMEs
Finance professionals from Lawler Financial Services, Chris Davis and Craig Sawyer, will address financial planning considerations for owners and operators of SMEs, including:

  • The 3 stages: corpoate and personal life
  • The 2 part process: agreement and funding
  • Case study: before and after of business succession planning and the impact on business and personal finances
  • Designing a Risk Protection Plan to complement your buy/sell agreement
