The Lawler Partners team raised $20,000 with the Great Wall of China Trek Challenge

Lawler Partners is proud of our close relationship with Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) and when we heard about their nine day Great Wall of China Trek Challenge, we encouraged employees to participate!  

We had three enthusiastic members of our team embark on a 9 day trek in Beijing, spending an average of 5 hours per day walking along the Great Wall and up its 80° steep stairs and uneven surfaces, to complete the 42km challenge.  It’s certainly a very long way from the NSW coastline and they all worked hard on personal fitness goals to ensure they were physically and mentally prepared.

The team worked on a number of fundraising events to provide much needed fundraising for life saving medical services. Events included a charity movie night, staff trivia night and community raffle. 

“This was another great fundraising initiative of the WRHS and one I encouraged all our clients and key contacts to support. The great thing about the Rescue Helicopter is that no patient has ever had to pay for the service they receive due to the generous community support of the Rescue Helicopter and the raising of funds through projects such as this one,” acknowledged Steve Meyn, Managing Director.

WHERE DO THE FUNDS RAISED GO?

The funds raised go towards providing lifesaving medical services to people in dire emergency situations. It costs approximately $5,000 per flight to retrieve and transport those patients in the most severe medical conditions: those who have been injured in accidents, transferred from hospital to hospital, lost at sea, stranded in remote rural locations or critically ill newborn babies that need to reach a specialist hospital immediately. Therefore, every dollar towards making a difference for this worthy cause was very much appreciated by the team!
